The "Open Space" Foundation was founded in 2006 with the aim of supporting and promoting cultural dialogue and relationships through various forms of art and communication. We search and create bridges between traditions and modernity, between cultures, between generations. Since 2008, we have been developing training and cultural programs of an educational nature, with a special focus on children and youth. We have established ourselves as an organization that works and upholds its standards. We respect cultural diversity and encourage cultural dialogue and interaction to occur in all areas of life.
The foundation is the author and organizer of a number of events that have gained a place in the cultural calendar of our country and are boldly asserting themselves on a global scale. Our personal contacts and good relationships in the various sectors make it possible to build a network of connections at all levels not only in the country, but also abroad, which is a prerequisite for the successful management and implementation of our projects. We work with a team of professionals respected in their field of work. However, in our activities we also find support from many volunteers - from the country and beyond. We strive to create a space for dialogue in all spheres of life, and first of all – in our organization.
The foundation is registered and works for public benefit.
The focus of our work is children and young people. Since 2008, we have been developing a program in which through arts and crafts we provoke creativity and encourage the development of participants. During the summer months, we attract young people and children from Bulgaria and the world. Since 2011, we have been working on a program to support youth initiatives, in which, after training and protection of a project idea, young people receive funding and supervision for the implementation of their projects.
We support Bulgaria's talents. From 2007 to 2012, we organized an International Ethno-Jazz Festival in the Rhodopes. Over the years, over 380 artists and creators from 23 countries have taken part in the festival. We have organized more than 30 workshops, visited by over 400 people - active participants and at least as many as observers. We have supported 7 tours of Bulgarian musicians abroad.
Since 2013, we have been working in the town of Veliki Preslav, helping archaeologists and museum workers in archaeological excavations in the old capital of Preslav. Promote the city as a place for historical and cultural tourism by working with local people to develop their capacity.
Since 2011, we have opened a program to support youth initiatives, in which, after training and protecting a project idea, young people receive funding and supervision for the implementation of their projects. Since 2012, we have been working in partnership on several capacity development programs for our teams and associates. We share experience with colleagues from Europe and Africa, so that we can provide both training services and a place to practice (at home and abroad).
